Art

The Primary Knowledge Curriculum:

Fojanga Academy will be following a scheme of work that entitles students to develop their skills and make connections through different topics studied alongside other lessons.

Below is a full outline of each year group explaining what will be taught within Art, skills progression and development.

RATIONALE

Art, craft and design embody some of the highest forms of human creativity. A high-quality art and design education should engage, inspire and challenge pupils, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art, craft and design. As pupils progress, they should be able to think critically and develop a more rigorous understanding of art and design. They should also know how art and design both reflect and shape our history, and contribute to the culture, creativity and wealth of our nation.

Our aim is to provide each pupil at Fojanga Academy Primary School with the opportunity to develop their artistic skills, visual perception, confidence and enjoyment of art;

    • The teaching of Art is a legal requirement and is within the framework of the National Curriculum;

    • This policy is in line with the overall Curriculum aims;
